Money Management
Making the most of my money abroad.

What is the best way to access money in your host country? Do you have to pay a transaction fee for converting money or withdrawing from an ATM? Are your credit cards widely accepted in your new home?
To go abroad I will be using a Capital One debit card. I have no transactions fees with the card but if I withdraw from an ATM there will be a transaction fee. Credit Cards are not widely used in Europe.
Are student discounts widely available? What sort of proof do you need to receive them?
Student discounts are widely available for traveling and for museum entrances. I just need my student ID but some places require proof of birthday too.
What is the current exchange rate with the U.S. dollar? How stable is the exchange rate?
1 Euro = 1.13 US dollars, the exchange rate is pretty stable staying below 1.20 US dollars within the past 6 months.
What is the average cost of living in your host country? (e.g. How much does an average lunch cost?) What is/should your weekly budget be?
An average lunch is about 6-7 Euros. My budget will be 50 Euros a week for getting coffee (1.40 E), going out (5 E per drink), and once a week dinner (roughly 10).
Where do locals shop, eat out, and find entertainment?
The streets on my way to school are filled with places to eat out and shop. The Setas de Sevilla is a very popular place to find entertainment and food. Surrounding the Setas is the Center that has plenty of places to shop, eat, drink, and find entertaiment.
